Job Overview
PNG Air Ltd, the leading domestic airline in Papua New Guinea, is looking for an experienced System Administrator based in Port Moresby. The successful candidate will manage and support the company’s entire IT data centre and disaster recovery systems, including servers, backup solutions, virtualisation platforms, and Microsoft 365 services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the primary data centre and disaster recovery site, ensuring proper operation of servers, storage, power, cooling, and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain disaster recovery plans, conduct tests twice yearly, and report recovery objectives.
• Administer VMware and other virtualisation platforms, supporting migrations with minimal downtime.
• Run daily backup and restore operations on servers, databases, Microsoft 365, and applications, including ransomware-safe offline backups.
• Administer Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux servers: manage builds, patching, security hardening, and Docker workloads.
• Manage SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases, ensuring performance and integrity.
• Support enterprise applications with installation, upgrades, integrations, and vendor coordination.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, software licences, domains, and subscriptions with timely renewals.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Active Directory services.
• Proactively monitor IT infrastructure using Zabbix, address incidents promptly and document procedures thoroughly.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or relevant related field.
• 6 to 8 years of comprehensive data centre and systems administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Preferred certifications include Microsoft Azure Administrator, M365 Administrator, VMware VCP; Linux and backup certifications (RHCSA, Veeam VMCE) are advantages.
• ITIL 4 Foundation certification preferred.
• Experience in the aviation industry or managing IT in multi-site enterprises is an advantage.
