Beyond Jobs

Beyond Jobs is a special feature series on PNG Recruitment Box that explores the many ways Papua New Guineans are creating livelihoods, opportunities, and hope outside the traditional job market.

While our platform is best known for connecting job seekers with employment opportunities, we recognize that work in Papua New Guinea is not always found in offices or advertised vacancies. Across settlements, villages, and communities, young people and entrepreneurs are building futures through SMEs, cooperatives, farming, and community projects that sustain livelihoods and strengthen families.

Beyond Jobs tells these stories.

From youth-led farming cooperatives in Port Moresby, to women entrepreneurs in SMEs, to community projects turning challenges into income streams, this series highlights:

Innovative ways Papua New Guineans are sustaining livelihoods.

Grassroots leaders who are creating opportunities for others.

The role of cooperatives, SMEs, and local initiatives in tackling unemployment.

Practical pathways for youth and communities to generate income and independence.

Why “Beyond Jobs”?

Because employment is more than just filling a vacancy. It’s about livelihoods, resilience, and creativity in finding ways to provide for oneself, one’s family, and one’s community.

This series showcases the untold stories of Papua New Guineans who are going beyond traditional jobs — and in doing so, are reshaping the future of work in PNG.
