Simberi Gold Company Limited invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time position of Open Crane Operator based in Papua New Guinea. This important role requires operating non-slew and mobile slew cranes to move, lift, and position materials safely on site, adhering strictly to safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key duties and contribute effectively to the overall objectives of the role and organisation.
- Ensure safe work practices by identifying hazards and reporting risks.
- Perform daily pre & post prestart checks on cranes.
- Understand and use load charts for safe operations.
- Clean and maintain cranes and machinery.
- Operate specific cranes as per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
- Inspect cranes regularly to confirm safety compliance.
- Set up mobile slew cranes following OEM guidelines.
- Perform rigging duties as required.
- Adhere to Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Lift Plans.
- Conduct routine crane maintenance including cleaning and lubricating.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following education, experience, technical competencies, and professional attributes required to successfully perform this role.
- Exemplify behaviour consistent with St Barbara Values.
- Minimum grade 10 certificate.
- Current unrestricted PNG Driver Licence class 7.
- Certificate to perform dogging CPCCLDG3001A or RIIHAN208D.
- Certificate to operate non-slew (franna) crane TLILIC3006A or RIIHAN212D.
- Certificate to operate mobile slew crane up to 100 tonne TLILIC0014 or RIIHAN304D.
- Certificate to operate mobile slew crane over 100 tonnes TLILI4011A.
- At least 5 years industry experience.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems on cranes.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Capability to operate and control equipment safely.
- Willingness to work outside regular hours as needed.
- Attention to detail for safe and efficient operations.
