St Barbara Limited is looking for a driven HR Officer to join their Simberi Operations team in Papua New Guinea. This permanent full-time role involves supporting Human Resources systems, ensuring compliance, and providing effective and prompt HR support and advice across multiple operational sites working a 21/14 roster. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key duties and contribute effectively to the overall objectives of the role and organisation.

  • Support fair and consistent application of HR policies, procedures and processes.
  • Provide advice on recruitment, onboarding, work performance, career development, training, discipline, leave, and workers compensation.
  • Assist onboarding new employees and complete monthly HR management reports.
  • Help engage contractors and maintain the contractor database for Simberi Operations.
  • Support establishing a strong company culture as an active HR team member.
  • Provide timely support to the Human Resources Superintendent.
  • Manage your time efficiently to achieve expected outcomes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following education, experience, technical competencies, and professional attributes required to successfully perform this role.

  • Behave consistently with St Barbara’s Values.
  • Hold a degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Have at least two years of relevant, successful work experience.
  • Demonstrate high integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • React quickly to arising HR issues.
  • Bring relevant mining industry experience.
  • Show strong systems capability and experience with IR/ER and remuneration.
  • Have experience in instructional design and recruitment.
  • Be highly attentive to detail and possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a high energy level and positive attitude.
  • Build relationships across all business levels.
  • Prior site experience in mining or heavy industry is essential.
  • Experience with Pronto ERP system.
