Board of Trustees Member | Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA)

The Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA), supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility, is establishing the Biodiversity and Climate Fund (BCF) under PNG law to support sustainable biodiversity and climate initiatives. The Fund will operate independently with high standards of transparency and accountability.

About the Hiring Company

CEPA is mandated to conserve Papua New Guinea’s rich natural environment through regulatory and policy measures. It partners with international bodies like the UNDP to promote environmental protection, sustainable development, and community involvement nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full establishment and operational independence of the PNG Biodiversity Climate Fund.
• Ensure financial integrity and uphold fiduciary duties of the Fund.
• Oversee investment and grant-making policies based on merit and best interests.
• Maintain transparency, accountability, and public trust in Fund management.
• Foster partnerships with government, civil society, landowners, and private sector stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 10 years of strong professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required; postgraduate or Masters preferred in fields such as law, environmental management, finance, climate change, or community development.
• Proven integrity and commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
• Leadership experience at senior or board level.
• Not currently employed by Public Service or foreign government, and no conflicts of interest with CEPA or partners.
