PNG DataCo seeks a Manager Fibre and Transmission Systems to lead fibre and transmission projects ensuring secure, reliable telecom services. Candidates must have strong leadership and technical skills in fibre networks.
The Manager Fibre and Transmission Systems at PNG DataCo is pivotal for ensuring delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable telecommunications services. Leading fibre backbone, metro, access, and customer connections operations, this role demands a leader who can coordinate teams and contractors, engage stakeholders effectively, and maintain technical compliance for safe and high-quality field operations.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key duties and contribute effectively to the overall objectives of the role and organisation.
- Lead fibre operations to maintain network reliability, safety and service continuity.
- Oversee provisioning and customer connections to deliver timely, high-quality service activation.
- Manage transmission systems performance, technical acceptance and operational readiness.
- Coordinate projects, contractors and stakeholders to deliver work to scope, schedule and standard.
- Ensure accurate records, compliance, safety and quality assurance across all activities.
- Drive team leadership, reporting and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following education, experience, technical competencies, and professional attributes required to successfully perform this role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, ICT Engineering or related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, ICT, Project Management or Business Management are advantages.
- Professional registration or membership with the PNG Institute of Engineers is desirable.
- At least 7 years of experience in telecommunications network operations, fibre infrastructure, transmission systems or network rollout.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience with proven competence in contractor management, work orders, customer connections, fault response and technical close-out.
- Strong technical knowledge of fibre networks and transmission systems.
- Good understanding of network operations, service delivery and performance management.
- Excellent leadership, planning, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
