The Typhoid in Fiji-Vaccination towards Elimination (Ty-FIVE) program in Labasa, Fiji, is looking for a dedicated Data Analyst with skills in R and GIS to support public health data analysis and program monitoring.

The Ty-FIVE program focuses on eliminating typhoid in Fiji through vaccination campaigns and surveillance efforts. The program collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to enhance public health initiatives in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, manage, and analyse health and programme datasets using R (tidyverse).
  • Produce descriptive analyses, tables, charts, and summary reports.
  • Develop data visualisations for reports, presentations, and decision-making support.
  • Create basic maps and spatial visualisations using QGIS and/or R.
  • Conduct data quality checks and maintain documentation and datasets.
  • Support routine and ad-hoc analytical requests.
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (Northern Division) about data matters.
  • Provide regular updates to the Country Lead and project team.
  • Contribute to project meetings, reporting, and workplan deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Geography, GIS, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and data analysis principles.
  • Intermediate skills in R programming.
  • Experience with GIS or spatial data analysis tools (QGIS and/or R spatial packages).
  • Interest in public health and population-level data.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
