The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) is inviting qualified candidates to join as an Officer Tax Audit Monitoring & Evaluation. This role is essential to ensuring that IRC’s tax audit strategies and initiatives are effective, timely, and impactful. The successful candidate will contribute to important audit planning and evaluation that support PNG’s taxation system integrity.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following key duties and contribute effectively to the overall objectives of the role and organisation.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of IRC Tax Audit strategy, audit master plan and action plan, audit campaigns, audit solutions and initiatives.
  • Provide advice and support to the Director.
  • Provide feedback to the strategy and planning team, and recommendations to management.
  • Implement plans within set timelines and performance expectations for the Audit Strategy and Planning section to meet its deliverables.
  • Ensure a positive and collaborative relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the regular quantitative and qualitative reports as required by the Divisional Management.
  • Coordinate with other teams to support the performance of their Division.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management, including projects.
  • Uphold and maintain corporate and organizational values.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following education, experience, technical competencies, and professional attributes required to successfully perform this role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Management (Majoring in Accounting) or equivalent qualification is required.
  • CPA membership is an advantage and working towards CPA qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of tax auditing experience.
  • Strong technical tax audit skills with knowledge of Taxation Legislation and Tax Administration processes.
  • Advanced skills in computerized accounting systems/software such as Enterprise Resource Planning.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change with high interpersonal and communication skills, tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Achievement driven with focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer software.
